Often, when visiting comic, toon or manga sites, I get a little bored. It's not at the art is bad, it's just that most of the time these sites are archives, and unless you keep looking for the names of the sites, you really can't tell one from the next. That isn't the case with Enchantae, however, and this original comic novel site, never fails to renew my enthusiasm for online illustrations.

When you enter Enchantae, you immediately fall upon four - so far - categories: the first three volumes of the series, although only the first two - so far - have content, and the "Special Episodes". Within each volume are a different number of episodes that complete a story arch. In the special episodes section, you will find "A Brief Introduction", which is a comic backstory. There's also a Christmas Special Edition outside of the main story arch, and two other holiday editions. Since one can't survive on a porn site alone, I imagine artist Jordi Bayarri, probably has a day job. Coming up with ideas, narrative and drawings is no doubt a process that can't be accomplished overnight, so I totally understand the slow update schedule. There is also something new each week, but this usually consists of a set of 3 pages, rather than a full 12-page episode. There should be one of those every month, though. Something that might interest some of you is that the site comes in both Spanish and English. While all fans get the opportunity to purchase custom-made artwork at a more-than-reasonable price, you need to be in Spain to access the wallpaper downloads for your cell phone - and depending on your operator, you may even be able to get all of Enchantae's episodes on your mobile.

Quality is very good. Images are perfectly crisp, and I love that each page fits my computer screen with a minimal amount of scrolling. There isn't a slideshow option, but that would be pointless anyway in a site where you want to take your time and browse the pages at your leisure. Episodes appear in sequential order and each has a title. Characters suit the fantasy kingdom that Bayarri creates: the chicks have voluptuous tits and shapely hips, and the male characters have big cocks that are loaded with a volcanic amount of cum. I'd like to see larger images, and Bayarri is, understandbly, rather protective of his work, which means there are no easy click-and-save downloads.

Enchantae scores its biggest points when it comes to originality. Bayarri creates a fantastic lost island kingdom in the clouds. The storyline has a Tolkien-type quest without the extensive back story, but there is backstory. The heroines come across many obstacles on their adventures and always get diverted by lesbians and gangbangs. The narrative and dialogue is basic, but the artwork is detailed. I get the feeling that Bayarri was influenced in some way by the illustrations of Bob Montana, but, without a biography, it's really hard for me to say this with certainty. However, the characters' illustrated faces reminded me of a particularly popular comic that Montana originated. Of course, all art is influenced by what has come before, and Bayarri maintains his own unique and predominantly realistic style - and his imagination is certainly a lot dirtier!

Enchantae stands as a unique and original sequential comic site. The story plays out more like an on-going graphic novel that may or may not ever end. There's sex in every episode and the focus is always on lesbians, straight sex, or groups and gangbangs. Other than a stud troll and some fairy or pixie-looking creatures, there isn't much fetish or otherworldy hardcore. While the storyline is simple, at least it's too the point. Some extras could be added, but I think the price is particularly reasonable, considering the amount of time and heart that artist and creator Jordi Bayarri, puts into each exclusive episode.
